Due to the many sizes and options available for vinyl vehicle lettering, there is a wide price range. There are several things to consider when using vehicle graphics.
- What is the length of time that the vehicle graphics need to last?
- What distance from the vehicle do the graphics need to be to remain legible?
- What is my budget?
- Do I want full-color images, solid-color images, or both?
- What is the most important information that needs to be shown to your audience? For example, phone number, company name, website address, or logo. Sometimes, one big mistake is putting too much information on a vehicle, leaving your audience not focusing on the main items that they will need to remember to make your advertising effective.
There’s a large selection of vehicle graphics products available to use, depending on the project’s needs.
Solid-Color Vehicle Graphics & Wraps
We use 3 main types of vinyl for solid-color vehicle graphics and wraps: standard vinyl, premium vinyl, and specialty vinyl.
Standard Vinyl
Standard vinyl is a 3-mill calendared material with 3 to 5 years of outdoor durability. Bright colors like red, yellow, and orange fade faster than dark ones. Metallic colors like silver and gold also deteriorate more quickly than normal colors. This is a great economical choice for vehicles that will not be in service for more than 4 or 5 years.
Premium Vinyl
Premium vinyl is a 2-mill cast material with 7 to 10 years of outdoor durability, depending on the color. Bright colors like red, yellow, and orange fade faster than dark ones. Metallic colors like silver and gold also deteriorate more quickly than normal colors. This type of material is also less prone to shrinking and cracking. This is the best choice for vehicle graphics that you need to last as long as possible.
Specialty Vinyl
Specialty vinyl comes in several different types. The more popular types are reflective, heavy metallic, simulated gold leaf, camouflage, wood grain, and many more. Their outdoor durability varies, respectfully.
Full-Color Vehicle Graphics & Wraps
We use 2 main types of vinyl for full-color vehicle graphics and wraps: standard printable vinyl and premium vinyl.
Standard Printable Vinyl
Standard printable vinyl is usually a 3-mill calendared type and has 3 or 4 years of outdoor durability. This vinyl is ideal for short-term use or economy-minded projects. With this type of vinyl, a standard over-laminate coat can also be applied to add extra protection against abrasion and fading.
Premium Vinyl
Premium vinyl is usually a 2-mill cast high-performance type and has an outdoor durability of up to 5-7 years (according to the manufacturer). Although, depending on the maintenance of the vinyl, it can last longer.
This type of vinyl can also have an additional premium overcoat of laminate to minimize abrasion and color fading. This vinyl choice is ideal for vehicle wraps and graphics that must go over rivets or uneven surfaces. With this type, an easy application style is also available for larger jobs.
Vehicle Window Graphics
Window film, also called view-through vinyl, is used on vehicle windows. It has many perforated holes in the material, is applied to the outside of the windows, and has a protective laminate overcoat with an optically clear adhesive.
Since obstructed visibility on vehicle windows is illegal, perforated vinyl is a great solution. This window graphics material is visible from the outside, but you can still look out from inside the vehicle.
Other terms include perforated window vinyl, window perf, see-through vinyl, or one-way vision film. All of these are adhesive-backed PVC vinyl which consists of tiny holes. We can print graphics directly on the vinyl surface.
